As an adult looking back, I remember the challenges of my teenage years. I struggled with low self-esteem and poor body image causing me to have immense self-doubt, play it small, and not make the wisest choices.

That’s why I was so thrilled to connect with Deanne Barrett, an educator who understands that teens are under enormous pressure to succeed, both academically and socially.  As adults, we want to do everything we can to keep our teens from making the same mistakes that we made, and sometimes our well-intended advice adds to the pressure and leaves teens feeling like there’s no room for failure.

Inevitably, teens make mistakes. But the difference is that now those mistakes can be broadcast on social media with sometimes devastating impact on teens and families. We need to find that balance between keeping our teens safe and supported, and allowing them to make mistakes so they can learn from them. This is tricky territory.

Have you ever wondered:

  • How much independence can MY teen handle?
  • How can I keep the lines of communication open so that I can help my teen handle obstacles?
  • How can I gradually hand over responsibilities to my child so that they’re prepared for adulthood?
  • How can I help my teen if I don’t even know what’s going on with them?

YOU ARE NOT ALONE in asking these questions! Every parent is trying to do what’s best for their teens, and for their families, and we all need a little inspiration and strategy along the way. Right?

That’s why I’ve teamed up with Deanne for a FREE online conference called Resilient Teen: Supporting independence, confidence, and resourcefulness in teens.
